Parkstone Yacht Club (PYC) is one of the UK’s leading sailing clubs, providing exceptional facilities and a vibrant community for sailors of all levels. The Club supports a wide range of on‑ and off‑the‑water activities including sailing, marina operations, hospitality, training, racing, and social events. To enhance member experience and streamline operations, PYC is undertaking a strategic programme to replace its current non‑integrated systems with a modern, unified digital platform.
Project Background
PYC is initiating a re‑platforming project to implement an integrated system that supports:
• Membership database and CRM
• Food and bar point‑of‑sale
• Marina berth allocation, visitor management, and water‑based activity tracking
• Sail racing administration
• Website and online member services
• Yard operations including off‑season storage and yard‑team work management
• Financial bookkeeping and reporting
• Facilities management
• Events, communications, and marketing
This project aims to deliver a cohesive, efficient, and future‑proof platform to replace multiple legacy solutions.
Role Description
The Business Analyst will support the Steering Group’s decision‑making by providing structured, evidence‑based analysis of current operations and system needs. Responsibilities include documenting existing (“As‑Is”) processes, gathering and defining business requirements, supporting the procurement process, and assisting in vendor evaluation. The Business Analyst will also be responsible for creating and managing the project plan.
There is potential for additional work during the system implementation phase.
Key Responsibilities.
• Conduct detailed process mapping of current (“As‑Is”) workflows across all operational areas.
• Facilitate workshops and interviews with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
• Produce clear, prioritised business requirements.
• Prepare a Request for Proposal (RFP) for potential vendors.
• Support vendor selection, evaluate responses, and prepare comparison summaries.
• Develop and maintain the project plan.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide clear documentation and periodic reports to the Steering Group.
Skills / Experience
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in IT platform replacement or digital transformation.
• Strong process mapping and requirements‑gathering capability.
• Experience writing RFPs and supporting vendor assessments.
• Effective Communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and convey complex information clearly
• Strong organisational and project‑planning abilities.
• Experience in membership organisations, hospitality, marina operations, or finance (desirable).
• Experience in project-based roles, especially in system re-platforming or implementation projects (desirable)
Contract Details
• Duration: approx. 30 days (flexible scheduling possible)
• Potential further work during implementation phase
• Reporting to: PYC General Manager
