Purpose/ Summary
The IT Support Technician position is responsible for providing technical support services to end users, hardware and software installation, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting of issues, researching and resolving complex problems, and performing project work as assigned.
Core Duties And Responsibilities
Under direct supervision:
• Utilizes the IT service ticketing system and provides exceptional technical support to end users via phone, email or in-person
• Ensures proper procedures are followed when identifying problems
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to user access, service interruptions, and hardware and software problems
• Coordinates on-site visits as needed with end users to efficiently resolve technical problems and ensures proper communication of resolution to the customer
• Installs, configures, and maintains computer systems and network devices
• Manages planned and unplanned downtimes following proper procedures
• Executes checklists and scripts of tasks with excellent attention to detail
• Schedules migration tasks and provides end users training
• Communicates with internal customers to deliver training and responds to questions during training sessions
• Documents all support activities and resolutions
• Participates in special IT projects, providing technical proficiency where needed
• Collaborates with the IT team to identify and implement solutions to improve client satisfaction
• Stays current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT support
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill & Ability:
• Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Windows hardware environment
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with multiple levels
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies
• Detail oriented skills with attention to accuracy
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Highly organized with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to provide clear, concise, easy to understand training
Education/Experience
• Two (2) years of experience in IT Help Desk, technical support environment, or related field
• Technical certifications in IT a plus
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s or higher degree in an information technology related field, or equivalent work experience
• Actively enrolled in or graduated from an IT training course or degree program
