London Works is recruiting on behalf of a private individual and is acting as an employment agency for this hire.
Location: Croydon (Mix of remote work and client's home)
Salary: £15.00 - £20.00 per hour
Temporary or Permanent (14 Hours Per Week – Flexible Days)
Overview of the Role
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and empathetic individual to provide dedicated Personal Assistant (PA) and Support Worker services to a completely blind female professional in the Croydon area.
This unique role requires a blend of advanced digital administration skills and sensitive personal support. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in managing the client's complex schedule, communications, and supporting her participation in professional and social life
Key Responsibilities
The duties are divided between digital/administrative support and in-person support:
A. Digital and Administrative Support (Remote/Home-based)
• Inbox and Email Management: Proactive filtering, prioritisation, drafting, and responding to emails on the client's behalf.
• Diary and Schedule Management: Comprehensive scheduling of professional appointments, meetings, and personal engagements such as theatre and holidays, ensuring efficient time management.
• Personal and Social Calendar: Organisation and coordination of personal events, travel, social activities, and online shopping.
• Technology Assistance: Providing support and navigation assistance with iPhone applications, software, and use of smart devices, plus social media management (Facebook, Twitter, Podcast applications).
B. Personal Support (In-person, at client's home/external venues)
• Light Physical Navigation: Safely escorting the client to external work events, meetings, and appointments, acting as a sighted guide. Examples include ad-hoc shopping days, and accompaniment to appointments and engagements.
• Environmental Assistance: Providing visual description and orientation support in new or unfamiliar settings.
• Handling Post/Sensitive Documents: Sensitive document management and postal assistance.
Essential Requirements
• Experience: Proven experience in an administrative capacity.
• IT Proficiency: Highly computer-literate with excellent command of Google Workspace and the ability to quickly navigate and assist with mobile device/app usage.
• Empathy and Sensitivity: A genuine and high level of empathy and understanding, particularly as the client is completely blind.
• Trustworthiness: Must be discreet, reliable, and capable of maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule of 14 hours across flexible days, splitting time between remote admin and in-person support in Croydon and surrounding areas.
Desirable Attributes
• Disability Support Experience: Previous experience supporting or working with people with disabilities, especially visual impairments.
• Organisational Skills: Exceptional ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage competing demands effectively.
