Location: London (Oxford Circus)
Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office
Reports to: Financial Controller
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract

Role

The Portfolio Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of Monument’s loan portfolio accounting.

Reporting into the Financial Controller, this role ensures that Monument’s growing portfolio of property and bridging loans is managed with precision, in full compliance with IAS39 and related accounting standards and disclosure requirements. It also supports the evolution of our finance operations enhancing processes, improving automation, and building scalable systems as we integrate new lending partners and products.

This role is ideal for an ambitious finance professional with 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience who combines rigorous attention to detail with the curiosity and technical ability to simplify complexity through data, automation, and technology.

How You’ll Make an Impact
• Take ownership of day-to-day loan portfolio accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Support the Financial Controller in maintaining IAS 39 compliance across complex lending products, including bridging and property loans.
• Prepare and review loan schedules, fee reconciliations, and interest accruals to ensure data accuracy across multiple systems.
• Collaborate with the IT and finance teams on process transformation and automation initiatives, including potential integration with Mambu and other core systems or alternative options.
• Provide analytical insight into loan performance, data quality, and reconciliation variances, identifying and resolving root causes quickly.
• Work with external partners, including Forward Flow lenders, to ensure data consistency, transparency, and timely reporting.
• Contribute to the design of financial controls and reporting processes to support new product launches and system enhancements.
• Act as a key contributor to finance’s long-term automation strategy, balancing short-term manual improvements with future system integration goals.

We’re Looking for Someone Who Is
• A hands-on accountant with strong experience in loan, lease, or structured finance accounting within banking or non-bank lending.
• Skilled in applying IFRS 9 or IAS 39 principles to complex lending portfolios and able to interpret financial data with precision.
• Experienced with bridging or property loans, securitisation, SPVs, or fund accounting
• Experienced with automation project in Finance and / or Treasury
• Technically capable, analytical and solutions-driven, able to design and implement practical process improvements.
• Highly organised and accurate with a natural ownership mindset and commitment to getting the details right, even under pressure.
• Comfortable working in a growing environment where systems and processes are evolving, and proactive in helping shape better ways of working.
• Collaborative and dependable, with the ability to work closely with stakeholders across Finance, IT, Operations, and external partners.
Desirable:
• Exposure to Mambu or other core banking platforms.
• Experience working on system migration, parallel runs, or data cutover projects.
