Description
Provide a quality Pre-Kindergarten curriculum that is developmentally appropriate, designed to prepare students for early literacy, enhance the age-appropriate progress of students in attaining the state-adopted performance standards, and prepare students to be ready for kindergarten based on the statewide kindergarten screening. The program will help children develop their social, emotional, linguistic, physical, and cognitive skills, incorporating the YMCA core values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Implements Department of Education-approved curriculum, designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans based on curriculum.
2. Interface with the Quality Assurance Coordinator of the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County.
3. Supervises the children, the classroom, and all activities.
4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
5. Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
6. Maintains program site and equipment.
7. Maintains required program records and submits those records to the appropriate.
8. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
9. Supports the Y’s Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards (HEPA), encouraging children, adults ,and families to adopt a healthy lifestyle and role-models the standards.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum age requirement - 21 years of age
2. Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
3. One - two years of experience in child care, management, or the equivalent.
4. CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
5. Complete YMCA of the USA New Employee Orientation e-learning course.
6. Complete YMCA Policy and Procedures for New Employees within 60 days of employment.
7. Annually complete 10 hours of in-service training for CEU credits.
8. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

This position will require sudden movements, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, running, and lifting. Ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor and indoor settings.
