Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer

Data centres are one of the fastest moving spaces in engineering right now, and this is a genuine chance to be part of a consultancy that's thriving in it. Our client is a multi disciplinary building services consultancy with a growing, highly regarded Mission Critical team, delivering complex, high profile data centre projects for major international clients. They're expanding fast and looking for a Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a talented, close knit MEP team. You'll get real ownership of design work, exposure to some of the most technically demanding cooling and HVAC challenges in the sector, and a clear path toward Principal and Associate Director level. What you'll be doing Producing conceptual and detailed mechanical design solutions in line with client briefsCarrying out mechanical services design calculations using Hevacomp and IES softwareSupporting CFD briefing and reviews with the supply chainWorking across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling and domestic hot and cold water services for mission critical facilitiesGetting involved in large scale liquid cooling scheme designWorking with HVAC systems including Fan Wall, CRAH/CRAC, VRV, VAV, 4 pipe fan coil, close control, chilled beam and chilled ceiling systemsTaking projects from feasibility studies and concept design through to detailed designProducing mechanical specifications and schedulesBuilding strong working relationships with architects, structural engineers, project managers and quantity surveyorsActing as a technical point of contact for clients What we're looking for Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related disciplineSolid data centre or mission critical design experienceWorking toward Chartered status, or already chartered (CIBSE / IMechE)Familiarity with codes such as BS EN 50600, ANSI/ASHRAE 90.4 and CIBSE guidanceFamiliarity with data centre tier rating systems and hyperscale or colocation requirementsWorking knowledge of Revit and BIM workflows (ACC, BIM 360 and Navisworks are a bonus)A collaborative, client facing approach and strong communication skills What's in it for you Salary £50,000 to £80,000 DOEAnnual bonus, typically £1,000 to £5,000Hybrid working, 2 to 3 days a week from London, Manchester, Leeds or SunderlandA genuinely collaborative, multi disciplinary teamA clear route toward Principal and Associate Director progressionThe chance to work on some of the most technically interesting cooling and HVAC challenges in the UK and internationally If you're a mechanical design engineer looking for real technical variety, strong support and a clear future, we'd love to hear from you.
