We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the healthcare team at HMP Isle of Wight based just outside Newport.
HMP Isle of Wight is a category B high security male prison set across 2 sites Albany and Pankhurst.

Hours
This position is full time.
Healthcare operates 24/7 so will need to be flexible as shifts will be on a rota basis covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Likely to be working two weekends per month
11.5 hours 0730 - 2000 or 1930 - 0800
9.5 hours - 0730 - 1730
Weekends - 0800 - 1730
Salary
Up to £31,789 per annum

What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wingsFacilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etcBe involved in the implementation of clinical care packagesSupport the nursing team with all aspects of care Act as a second checker in pharmacy as requiredSupport receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patientsYou will primarily be working within the primary care.

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care CertificateHave experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable! Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison settingHave clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etcHave a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
