Devops Engineer

DevOps Engineer / Newcastle / Hybrid / £90,000 + Bonus / A leading PE-backed technology consultancy is building a brand-new Defence Consulting practice and is looking for experienced DevOps Engineers to help establish its infrastructure capability from day one. You’ll join a founding engineering team responsible for delivering secure, scalable infrastructure across mission-critical Defence programmes while influencing engineering standards, cloud architecture and automation strategy. The Role You’ll design, automate and support secure cloud environments and deployment pipelines, working closely with Software Engineers and Data Engineers to deliver resilient platforms for complex Defence projects. Key responsibilities include: Designing secure cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines Building CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code solutions Automating cloud environments and operational processes Supporting Kubernetes and containerised workloads Implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions Collaborating across engineering teams on platform architecture Driving DevOps best practice across the engineering function Supporting greenfield platform and infrastructure builds What We’re Looking For Commercial experience within a DevOps or Platform Engineering role Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Pulumi or CloudFormation CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitLab Docker and Kubernetes experience Scripting using Python, Bash or PowerShell Strong understanding of secure, scalable infrastructure Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing consultancy where you’ll have genuine influence over technology decisions while working on some of the most technically complex engineering programmes.
