Quantity Surveyor - East Suffolk

The Quantity Surveyor Opportunity: Expanded Structures is the specialist reinforced concrete basement, substructure and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke and is currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the team in East Suffolk. We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework supporting critical infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to gain experience across a major infrastructure programme while developing their commercial and contractual knowledge. What will the role look like? Supporting quantity surveying and commercial activities across allocated work packages. Supporting measurement, valuation and agreement of works. Preparing and managing interim applications and payment certifications. Assisting with drafting, managing and closing out subcontracts. Supporting monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting. Assisting with claims, final accounts and commercial negotiations. Identifying, pricing and managing change control. Supporting project teams with contractual obligations, commercial risks and opportunities. Producing contract reviews, BPR information and management reports. Supporting project budget establishment and ongoing cost management. Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders. Working collaboratively with the wider Commercial team. What skills & experience are we looking for? Degree (or higher) in Quantity Surveying; RICS membership desirable but not essential. Working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts. Experience within direct delivery, construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments, ideally across the project lifecycle. Strong analytical, commercial and organisational skills, with a willingness to learn and progress within the Commercial function.
