About The Role Working pattern: remote (occasional visits to site in Helensburgh) Altrad are currently looking for a driven Mechanical Engineer to join the team. The nuclear defence sector in the UK is vital for maintaining national security and strategic stability. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the technical capability of the Design Authority (DA). The role would suit engineers with a strong background in Mechanical Design; however, candidates with experience in Mechanical Installation or Maintenance are also encouraged to apply. You will contribute your technical expertise to support the delivery of safe, compliant and effective engineering solutions within a highly regulated environment. Key Deliverables: Technical excellence in the specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure. Specification of reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure. Assessment of work control procedures for maintenance of infrastructure. Assessment of infrastructure design, material state, qualification and ageing mechanisms to permit the continued operation of facilities and utilities. Discharge and display a robust safety and security culture. Ensure outputs of safety related contracts meet the contract requirements and appropriate safety requirements by acting as an intelligent customer. Key Requirements / Qualifications: Essential Broad experience in mechanical engineering, preferably with experience of some of the following Mechanical systems; Pump systems, cranes, heating ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC), pressure systems and Diesel Generators. Ability to provide practical, creative and cost-effective solutions for design changes / modifications of plant and supporting Infrastructure. A good understanding of British and international design standards. A track record of making intelligent evidence based decisions using various sources of data. Good skills in verbal and written communication. The ability to effectively manage and prioritise your own workload. HNC or equivalent qualifications and experience in a relevant engineering discipline Detailed knowledge of the Design Intent for Mechanical Infrastructure in the nuclear or similar industry Desirable Experience of working within the nuclear industry or any other high hazard industry Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience and standing Degree or equivalent qualifications and experience in a relevant engineering discipline About Us At Altrad, our people create endless opportunities.
