Job description
Our client are looking to recruit a HR Manager into the busy, dynamic growing business.
What's the background?
There's something about working in a smaller, family business that just makes work a bit more special. Maybe it's the close-knit aspect, where you know everyone's name? Maybe it's just the fact you can see the impact of every action first hand and you're not simply a cog in a big machine?
Spanning almost eight decades, this is a business rich in heritage but moving with the modern times. The time has now come for them to bring on board their first ever HR person so the MD can pass over responsibilities to a specialist who can raise the bar in terms of their people operations.
Responsibilities:
Although this will be their first ever HR hire, they still have processes in place as they've been using external HR support up to this point. However, by bringing someone internally into the business they hope that you'll build upon the stuff they have in place and enhance it. Some bits might need a little tweak, others a bit more of an overhaul.
The headcount is still relatively low (circa 120 people) but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty to keep you busy. The Directors are looking for hands on support on day to day, you will be involved in recruitment, onboarding, disciplinaries and dealing with day-to-day HR issues as they arise.
So what kind of things might you be looking at? Well, their onboarding needs improving, the employee relations processes need tightening up, they'd like you to implement a plan for training and development, as well as increasing the amount of team-building activities they do. These are just a few examples of some of the meatier projects on top of the day-to-day recruitment, general point of contact for advice, absence management, documentation compliance etc.
If you are looking for a role with a dynamic, fast paced organistion with aspirations to grow quickly this could be the new role for you! As part of the role there would be an expectation to periodically visits our clients’ sites across the UK.
There is an expected start date of end of January 2024.
What you'll need to have
Hopefully it goes without saying that previous HR experience is required
CIPD qualification (or equivalent)
'Happy to get Stuck in!
